Hand-Painted Talavera Ceramic Trinket Box Candle – Cobalt Blue & White
This small, square ceramic trinket box features a striking cobalt blue and white floral design, hand-painted in the traditional style of Talavera pottery. Its sculptural form, bold brushwork, and rich glaze give it a lively yet timeless presence, while the fitted lid adds both charm and function.
Talavera ceramics trace their roots to 16th-century Mexico, where Spanish artisans introduced European glazing techniques that blended with Indigenous traditions. Over time, Talavera became known for its vibrant colors, hand-painted motifs, and expressive craftsmanship — no two pieces ever exactly alike. The marking on the underside, signed Honduras C.A., reflects the broader Central American tradition of producing hand-painted decorative ceramics inspired by classic Talavera forms.
Originally intended to hold small keepsakes or jewelry, this box has been thoughtfully repurposed into a candle, honoring its decorative heritage while giving it a new and unexpected use.
The vessel has been filled with 2.4 oz of all-natural soy wax.
Dimensions:
Approximately 2.75" tall (with lid) × 2 5/8" wide (with lid)
Scent: Elderberry Nectar
- Top Notes: Green Tea, Mandarin, Elderberry
- Middle Notes: Raspberry, Geranium
- Base Notes: Oak, Sandalwood
The fragrance is fresh yet grounded — bright citrus and green tea notes give way to soft fruit and florals, settling into a warm, woodsy base that complements the vessel’s bold cobalt pattern.
This piece is one of a kind.
Please note: As a hand-painted ceramic vessel, slight variations in brushwork, glaze, or color are natural and expected. These details are a testament to its handcrafted nature and add to its unique character.
