Vintage Brass Lion Head Planter Candle
This striking vintage brass planter features a substantial rounded form, a wide flared rim, and decorative lion head mounts accented with hanging ring handles. The aged brass surface has developed a warm, softly mottled patina over time, giving the vessel depth and character while highlighting its sculptural details.
Lion head motifs have appeared in European decorative arts for centuries, particularly on furniture, urns, planters, and architectural pieces. Inspired by classical Greek and Roman ornament, the lion traditionally represented strength, courage, and nobility. During the 19th and 20th centuries, these classical motifs were frequently revived in decorative metalwork, with lion heads and ring handles becoming especially popular details on brass planters, jardinieres, and cachepots designed for the home.
Originally intended as a decorative planter or cachepot, this vintage brass vessel has been thoughtfully repurposed into a candle, preserving its beautifully aged finish and ornamental character while giving it a warm and functional second life.
The vessel has been filled with 23 oz of all-natural soy wax and now features three wicks for an even, controlled burn across its generous surface. *Please note that some photographs may show this candle with four wicks. After further burn testing, the candle was repoured with three wicks to provide a more balanced burn for this particular vessel. The candle you receive will feature three wicks.
Dimensions:
Approximately 5.5" wide × 3.5" tall
Scent: Forest Chai
- Top Notes: Orange Peel, Peppercorn, Cardamom
- Middle Notes: Ginger, Anise, Nutmeg
- Base Notes: Fir, Cinnamon, Honey
Forest Chai is warm, woodsy, and richly spiced. Bright orange peel opens the fragrance alongside peppercorn and aromatic cardamom, followed by a heart of ginger, anise, and nutmeg. Fir brings an evergreen depth to the base, while cinnamon and honey add a soft, comforting warmth.
The combination of spice, evergreen, and subtly sweet honey pairs beautifully with the vessel's aged brass and classical detailing, creating a candle that feels especially at home during the cooler months.
Once the candle has finished burning, the vessel can be carefully cleaned and repurposed as a planter, decorative cachepot, or collected piece of vintage brassware.
This piece is one of a kind.
Please note: As a vintage brass piece, variations in patina, oxidation, surface wear, scratches, or other minor age-related imperfections may be present. These authentic details are part of its history and add to the unique character of the piece.
