Woodbury Pewter Creamer Candle
This vintage pewter creamer was crafted by Woodbury Pewterers of Woodbury, Connecticut, a company founded in 1952 and known for producing finely made pewter inspired by early American forms. Many Woodbury Pewter pieces were created as historically accurate reproductions, including items made for institutions such as the Henry Ford Museum, celebrating colonial-era tableware and traditional craftsmanship.
Creamers like this were originally used to serve milk or cream at the table, designed with a pedestal base for stability, a gently flared spout for easy pouring, and a sculpted handle for balance and comfort. Its simple, functional silhouette reflects the understated elegance of early American domestic design, where beauty and utility were closely intertwined.
Now thoughtfully repurposed, this piece has been transformed into a candle and filled with 6 oz of natural soy wax. The soft glow of the flame warms the pewter’s silvery surface, highlighting its subtle patina and hand-finished character. Once the candle has finished burning, the creamer can enjoy a second life as a small pitcher, utensil holder, or decorative accent — continuing its story beyond the flame.
