Antique Northwood/Dugan Inverted Fan & Feather Opalescent Glass Candle

This beautiful antique glass vase features the intricate Inverted Fan & Feather pattern, with delicate embossed feather-like scrollwork, an elegantly scalloped rim, and four decorative feet. Its clear glass body transitions into a soft, milky opalescence along the upper edges, creating a luminous effect that highlights the vessel's elaborate detailing and distinctive shape.

Dating to the early 1900s, the Inverted Fan & Feather pattern is associated with the Northwood and Dugan glassmaking companies of Indiana, Pennsylvania. An example of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), the design reflects an era when American glassmakers produced richly ornamented pressed glass for everyday use and decorative display. Opalescent glass was especially admired for its delicate, light-catching appearance, achieved by incorporating special ingredients into the glass and carefully reheating selected areas to develop its characteristic milky finish. Pieces like this were often used as decorative vases or table accents, bringing an element of elegance into the home.

Originally created as a decorative glass vase, this antique treasure has been thoughtfully repurposed into a candle, preserving its century-old craftsmanship while giving it a beautiful and functional second life.

The vessel has been filled with 7.12 oz of all-natural soy wax, hand-poured to complement its delicate antique form.

Dimensions:

Approximately 4" wide (including feet) × 4.5" tall

Scent: Elderberry Nectar

  • Top Notes: Elderberry, Mandarin, Green Tea
  • Middle Notes: Raspberry, Geranium
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood, Oakwood

Fruity, botanical, and softly woodsy, Elderberry Nectar opens with the rich sweetness of elderberry, bright mandarin, and refreshing green tea. Notes of raspberry and geranium bring a delicate floral sweetness to the heart, while sandalwood and oakwood create a smooth, grounding finish. The fragrance is beautifully balanced, offering a sophisticated blend of fresh fruit, gentle florals, and warm woods.

The elegant fragrance pairs beautifully with the delicate opalescent glass, creating a candle that feels both timeless and romantic, equally suited to a thoughtfully styled interior or a quiet evening at home.

Once the candle has finished burning, the vessel can be carefully cleaned and repurposed as a decorative vase, small floral holder, or treasured piece of antique glassware.
