Antique Westmoreland Lacy Daisy Glass Open Sugar Bowl Candle
This exquisite antique clear pressed-glass sugar bowl features the beautifully intricate Lacy Daisy pattern, originally designated Pattern No. 909 by the Westmoreland Specialty Company. Its rounded body is adorned with an elaborate arrangement of raised geometric designs, delicate starbursts, and daisy-like motifs, creating a richly textured surface that catches and reflects the light beautifully. A gracefully flared, scalloped rim crowns the bowl, while a petite circular foot completes its elegant silhouette. The combination of sparkling clear glass, intricate detailing, and romantic floral-inspired design gives the piece a timeless Victorian charm.
The Lacy Daisy pattern was produced by the Westmoreland Specialty Company, the predecessor of the Westmoreland Glass Company, which was established in Grapeville, Pennsylvania, in 1889. During the late 19th century, American pressed glass became increasingly popular as manufacturers developed elaborate decorative patterns that offered the brilliance and beauty of more expensive cut crystal. Known among collectors as Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), these pieces often featured intricate geometric motifs, floral designs, and ornate silhouettes. Westmoreland's Pattern No. 909, affectionately known as Lacy Daisy, beautifully reflects this tradition, combining delicate daisy-like detailing with a richly patterned surface. Open sugar bowls like this were commonly used as part of coordinated table settings, bringing a touch of elegance to everyday dining and special occasions.
Originally created as a decorative sugar bowl, this antique glass piece has been thoughtfully repurposed into a candle, preserving its intricate detailing and historical character while giving it a beautiful and functional second life.
The vessel has been filled with 8 oz of all-natural soy wax, hand-poured to complement its beautiful antique form.
