Wm. Rogers Silver Sugar Bowl Candle – Vintage 1950s
This vintage silver-plated sugar bowl by Wm. Rogers reflects the enduring elegance of mid-century American tableware. Known for producing finely crafted silver-plated pieces throughout the 20th century, Wm. Rogers became a household name, bringing refined design into everyday homes. This piece features a softly rounded form with ornate, scrolling handles and a beautifully aged silver finish that carries a natural patina, adding depth and character.
During the 1950s, silver-plated serving pieces like this were staples in the home, often used as part of coordinated tea and coffee services. Sugar bowls were placed at the center of the table, passed between guests, and used daily — combining functionality with quiet sophistication. Over time, these pieces developed unique patinas, each one telling a subtle story of use and age.
Now thoughtfully repurposed, this vessel has been transformed into a hand-poured candle, filled with 6.6 oz of natural soy wax. When lit, the flame reflects softly across the silver surface, enhancing its warmth and highlighting the organic variations in the patina. Once the candle has finished burning, the bowl can be cleaned and reused as a decorative catchall, small serving piece, or keepsake — continuing its life beyond the flame.
